Mike Huckabee, the U.S. envoy stationed in Israel, was forced to relocate to secure shelters five times between Friday night and early Saturday as Iran launched retaliatory missile attacks on Israeli territory.
In a post on social media platform X on Saturday morning, Huckabee shared his personal experience of the tense hours he faced during the overnight attacks.
"It was a difficult night in Israel," he wrote, describing the continuous need to seek safety amid escalating threats.
The attacks coincided with Shabbat, the Jewish weekly day of rest, which typically passes in a calm and peaceful atmosphere. Huckabee noted, “Shabbat is usually peaceful, but this time, it seems that will not be the case.”
The U.S. State and Defense Departments had already taken precautionary steps days earlier. On Wednesday, two days before the Israeli offensive on Iran, Washington ordered the relocation of non-essential personnel from various sites across the Middle East, signaling concerns over a potential regional escalation.
As tensions continue to rise following Israel’s extensive strikes on Iran’s key military and nuclear targets, security measures for U.S. officials and citizens in the region remain on high alert.
