Every year on October 10, world mental health day is being observed. Numerous initiatives are planned on this day to raise awareness of mental health issues and people affected by them.
Make mental health & well-being for all a global priority is the theme and tagline—for World Mental Health Day 2022. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), prior to the COVID-19 epidemic, one in eight persons globally experienced mental health problems.
The goals of World Mental Health Day are to raise public awareness of mental health issues around the world and to motivate people to support mental health. The event makes sure that the topic of mental health is brought up and continues to be on people`s minds.
The day offers opportunity for mental health care professionals to exchange ideas and discover new strategies for ensuring treatment is available to everyone worldwide.
According to estimates on the WHO website, the rise in depression and anxiety disorders increased by more than 25% in the first year of the epidemic. The gap in treatment for mental health disorders has expanded at the same time that mental health services have been severely disrupted.
World Mental Health Day was first observed in 1992 by the World Federation for Mental Health, a non-governmental organization established in 1948 in London.
