Metro rail resumes service, transport of raw or cooked meat prohibited

After a one-day closure for Eid-ul-Adha, Dhaka’s metro rail service resumed operations at 8:00 AM on Sunday. However, passengers have been strictly prohibited from carrying raw or cooked meat, as well as animal hides, on the trains.

In a public notice, Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) announced that the restriction has been imposed to ensure passenger safety and maintain cleanliness on metro premises during the Eid holiday.

Security personnel will conduct bag checks at station entry points. Any passenger found carrying raw or cooked meat will be denied access to the stations.

Metro officials have instructed all station staff to strictly enforce the policy and urged commuters to remain cautious and cooperate with authorities during this period.

For now, trains will run every 30 minutes on Sunday. From Monday onwards, metro rail operations will follow the government holiday schedule.
