Metro Rail stops at two more stations from Wednesday

Two new stations are being added to the Metro Rail for passenger movement. Passengers will be able to use Kazipara and Mirpur-11 stations from Wednesday (March 15), Metro Rail authorities said.

Managing Director of Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) M.A.N Siddique confirmed this to the media. At the beginning of this month, the Mirpur-10 station was launched. With the addition of the new two, the number of Metro Rail stations will be seven.

The second station of Metro Rail which is the Uttara Center became operational on February 18. The Mirpur-10 station was inaugurated later on March 1.

The Managing Director of DMTCL also said that stations in Uttara North and Shewrapara will open this month.

Remarkably, last year December 28, Bangladesh established Metro Rail. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the metro Rail as the first passenger. On the day after the Prime Minister's inauguration, the Metro Rail only operated on a limited basis from Uttara to Agargaon from 8 am to 12 pm. Later on January 25, the metro Rail started stopping at Pallabi station as well.

MRT

The Metro Rail project, which was taken up in 2012, has been partially launched after a decade. The name of the launched metro Rail project is MRT Line-6. Its length from Uttara to Kamlapur is more than 21 km. Among them, there are 17 stations. The construction cost of the Metro Rail is 33 thousand 472 crores. The first trial run of Metro Rail began in August 2021. After 16 months of trial runs, Metro Rail was launched on December 28.
