The ruling Awami League has decided to share seven seats with the partners of the AL-led alliance to vie in the 12th parliamentary election scheduled for January 7.
The alliance coordinator and AL presidium member Amir Hossain Amu confirmed the development on Thursday.
He said the Awami League will leave Barishal-3, Rajshahi-2 and Satkhira-1 constituencies for Workers Party of Bangladesh, Kushtia-2, Laxmipur-4 and Bogura-4 constituencies for Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal – JSD and Pirojpur-2 for Jatiya Party (Manju).
Workers Party president Rashed Khan Menon will vie from Barishal-3 constituency, while the party’s Fazle Hossain Badsha filed nomination from Rajshahi-2 constituency and Mostafa Lutfullah Ahsan from Satkhira-1 constituency.
JSD president Hasanul Haque Inu will contest from Kushtia-2 constituency, Mosharraf Hossain from Lakshmipur-4 constituency and Rezaul Karim Tansen will contest from Bogura-4 constituency.
Jatiya Party (Manju) chief Anwar Hossain Manju will contest from Pirojpur-2 constituency.
However, no decision has been taken yet about Bangladesh Tariqat Federation or 14 other alliance partners on seat sharing, said Amir Hossain Amu, spokesperson of the 14 parties.
