Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Police have arrested three individuals, including Md. Humayun Kabir Sujon, a central subcommittee member on trade affairs of the ruling Awami League, in separate operations across the capital.
The two other detainees have been identified as Golam Rabbani Sardar, a former president of the Syed Amir Ali Hall unit of the Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) at Rajshahi University, and Md. Mehedi Hasan, a known Awami League activist.
According to officials, the arrests were made during separate raids in the Tikatuli, Mirpur, and Mohammadpur areas of Dhaka. Sujon was apprehended from Tikatuli around 12:30 a.m. on Wednesday night.
Later, at approximately 5:45 a.m. on Thursday, Mehedi Hasan was arrested from the Mirpur area. Golam Rabbani Sardar was detained from the Dhaka Udyan area of Mohammadpur around 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
Authorities claim that the three were part of an organized group allegedly involved in creating unrest in various parts of Dhaka by staging surprise processions and attempting to incite panic among the public.
Police sources also stated that the individuals face multiple cases filed at different police stations.
The detainees are currently in police custody, and further investigations are underway regarding their activities and potential affiliations.
