BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir spoke out about the current political situation in Bangladesh, emphasizing that an elected government is always better than one that is unelected.
He made these remarks during a discussion at the National Press Club on Tuesday, held to mark the 89th birth anniversary of former President Ziaur Rahman and the 12th anniversary of the Zia Memorial Library.
Fakhrul stressed the need for fresh elections to overcome the ongoing political crisis in the country.
He explained, "Only an elected government can control the situation. Any elected government is better than any unelected government."
Fakhrul also spoke about the importance of education and knowledge. Reflecting on the political and social changes in countries like the Soviet Union and China after their revolutions, he encouraged students to stay patient and focused as they face the current challenges.
He warned, "It is not right to create chaos in society with an overly revolutionary mindset."
Additionally, Fakhrul pointed out that corruption in the administration has increased.
He criticized the bureaucrats, saying, "There is no thought other than corruption, theft, and personal interests among the bureaucrats."
