Awami League, after being removed from power through a student-led uprising, has announced a series of protest actions throughout February, demanding the resignation of the interim government.

This information was confirmed in a report by BBC Bangla.

According to the report, Awami League’s official Facebook page stated that the party will observe a nationwide blockade on February 16, followed by a hartal (strike) on February 18.

As part of their plan, Awami League has declared they will take to the streets starting February 1.

From February 1 to February 5, the party will distribute leaflets to raise awareness about their demands and to mobilize support for their upcoming hartal and blockade programs.

The party has also planned countrywide protest rallies on February 6 and demonstrations on February 10.

The blockade will take place on February 16, followed by a nationwide dawn-to-dusk hartal on February 18, which the party describes as a “strict” shutdown.

Since the ousting of Sheikh Hasina‍‍`s government on August 5, many leaders and activists of Awami League have gone into hiding.

Sheikh Hasina, who was removed from her position as Prime Minister, is currently staying in Delhi.

The party has not organized any major public demonstrations since then.

Although Awami League had previously scheduled a protest on November 10, none of its leaders or activists were seen on the streets that day.

In a press release, the party demanded the withdrawal of charges against Sheikh Hasina and others at the International Crimes Tribunal, calling the proceedings “sham trials.”

The press release referred to Sheikh Hasina as the "Prime Minister."
