BNP Allegedly Boycotting Elections out of Fear: Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury
Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, the State Minister for Shipping, has commented that the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) is allegedly boycotting the elections out of fear.
On Tuesday, May 21, speaking at Dhontola Government Primary School center in Bochaganj, Dinajpur, around eight in the morning, he expressed this opinion to journalists after casting his own vote.
"The people are enthusiastic about voting. Due to the fear of losing in a fair and impartial election, the BNP has boycotted the election. BNP wants to destroy the country, so the people have rejected them," he stated.
He further added, "The voting is taking place in a festive atmosphere. People are eager to vote. This time, there is competition in all positions in the election. Candidates are competing with respect. Despite the challenges of harvesting season, intense heat, and rain, candidates are promoting campaigns amidst the festive atmosphere. The festival of voting is ongoing."
Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury emphasized, "Voting is for the dignity and self-respect of the people. And we achieved this self-respect through the Liberation War of `71. We are a victorious nation; this nation will never be defeated. We defeated the Pakistani oppressors. Bangladesh is advancing by embracing the consciousness of the Liberation War. In politics aiming to plunge the country into darkness, the BNP has taken a stand. So, the people have rejected them."
