Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Hossain Ahmad clarified that the Election Commission does not have any allegiance to any political party.

He emphasized that the commission aims to remain neutral, both in support of or opposition to any party, in order to ensure a fair election process.

He shared these thoughts on Sunday, February 9, during the "Hossain Zakir Best Reporting Award" ceremony organized by the RFEID for journalists.

"To conduct a free and fair election, we need the support of the people from all walks of life," said CEC Ahmad.

"It‍‍`s crucial that political influence on the Election Commission is stopped. We are committed to working toward a fair election, and while challenges will arise, we must face them head-on. We are prepared to move forward."

The CEC also expressed that the commission intends to stay impartial, bringing everyone together.

"When someone criticizes the Election Commission, it feels like an arrow piercing through me," he remarked.

He also addressed the issue of differing opinions, explaining,

"Disagreement doesn’t necessarily mean being against something. Differences of opinion are common. Unfortunately, some people can’t accept this, but I’ve learned to embrace it. If I’m criticized, I take it as a sign of some shortcoming, and I work on improving myself."

He concluded by saying,

"Everyone has been applauding, but it has led us to a dangerous point. We need to stop applauding mistakes and look at everything realistically. We shouldn‍‍`t keep clapping just because someone says something wrong."

The CEC‍‍`s comments came as a reminder to everyone that in any democracy, differences in opinion are natural, and addressing these concerns with understanding is essential for progress.
