On this year’s Shaheed Sena Dibash, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, the Secretary General of BNP, voiced his criticism of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her government’s failure to take action after the Pilkhana massacre.
He made this comment while paying tribute to the fallen military officers and members at Banani Military Cemetery this Tuesday morning.
Fakhrul stated, "No action was taken in the aftermath of the Pilkhana massacre because of Sheikh Hasina and her government`s collusion.
The massacre went on for two days."
The massacre occurred on February 25, 2009, when rebellious members of the BDR launched a surprise attack during a Darbar at their headquarters in Pilkhana.
The violent assault resulted in the deaths of 74 people, including 57 army officers.
Various organizations, including BNP and Jatiya Party, paid their respects to the martyrs at the cemetery.
Many have called for a fair and timely resolution to the legal process surrounding the massacre.
This comment from Mirza Fakhrul comes as the nation continues to remember the tragic events of 2009 and demands justice for those lost in the brutality.
