The 12th parliamentary polls likely to be held at due time in December as suggested by the Election Commission, said ruling Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader.
At a meeting of Awami League affiliates on Friday, he urged leaders and activists of the ruling party to get ready for the election while also remaining vigilant against the possibility of election-related "rumors."
“We're about to finish a five-year term, and hopefully Bangladesh will have its general election in December, as the Election Commission suggests,” Quader also Road Transport and Bridges minister, added.
Although the Election Commission has not yet released a preliminary election date, constitutional requirements state that the election must take place 90 days or less before the current parliament's term ends.
As its first session began on January 30, 2019, the eleventh parliament will be dissolved on January 29, 2024. This necessitates that voting must be taken place between November 2, 2023 and January 29, 2024.
