BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman on Sunday urged voters across the country to vote for BNP candidates in the February 12 national election, saying public support is essential to bring real change and rebuild the country.
Addressing a large rally in Mirpur, Tarique said the upcoming vote should go beyond choosing representatives and focus on improving people’s lives. He said the election must become a turning point for national recovery and development.
Tarique made the remarks while speaking at a rally at Adarsha High School ground in Senpara, Mirpur-10, under the Dhaka-15 constituency. He said BNP’s election manifesto outlines realistic plans that the party is capable of delivering.
According to him, BNP’s priorities include empowering women, strengthening farmers’ economic position, improving healthcare services, and creating jobs for young people through ICT, vocational and technical education.
He stressed that these plans depend on people’s participation. Turning to voters in Dhaka-15, he asked them to make their own decision on February 12 to support change. His remarks were met with loud chants of “Sheaf of Paddy” from party supporters.
Tarique said BNP believes power comes from the people and promised that the party would implement its commitments step by step if elected. He said BNP avoids making promises that cannot be fulfilled.
During the rally, he introduced BNP candidate Shafiqul Islam Khan Milton for Dhaka-15 and called on voters to elect him. He said the process of building the Bangladesh envisioned by the party could begin from February 13 if voters support BNP.
Earlier in the day, Tarique started his Dhaka campaign at the ECB ground in Dhaka-17. He later addressed another rally at Lalmat Field in Pallabi under Dhaka-16, seeking votes for BNP candidate Aminul Haque.
At the Pallabi rally, Tarique highlighted local problems such as waterlogging and healthcare shortages and promised solutions under BNP governance. He said he would personally monitor development work in Dhaka-16 if Aminul Haque is elected.
He assured voters that BNP would work closely with local representatives to ensure development and public welfare after the election.
