Travel ban imposed on Saber Hossain Chowdhury and family

The travel restrictions aim to prevent the family from fleeing the country or relocating the assets during the investigation.

A court has issued a travel ban on former Environment Minister Saber Hossain Chowdhury and five members of his family.

The order came in response to a request from the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), which is investigating allegations of illicit wealth and money laundering abroad.

The ban applies to Saber Hossain Chowdhury’s wife Rehana Chowdhury, sons Hamdan Hossain Chowdhury and Arj Alam Chowdhury, and daughters Raima Chowdhury and Alisha Babar Chowdhury.

According to the ACC, Chowdhury is accused of using political influence to engage in financial misconduct, amassing illegal wealth for himself and his family, and transferring assets abroad.

The travel restrictions aim to prevent the family from fleeing the country or relocating the assets during the investigation.
