Shamim Sikder, a sculptor and former lecturer at Dhaka University who received the Ekushey Padak award, passed away this afternoon.
She passed away at the United Hospital Limited in Dhaka at 4:30 p.m., Imran Hossain, a curator of Shamim Sikder Sculpture Park, told the media.
According to doctors cited by Imran, the 70-year-old artist had a number of diseases, including difficulties with his kidney, pulmonary, and cardiovascular systems.
She will rest next to her parents' tomb in the Mohammadpur cemetery. Shamim is survived by two children, who live in London.
