A total of 1,454 individuals have been arrested across Bangladesh in a special nationwide police drive conducted on Saturday, including in the capital.
On Sunday, 6 July, the information was shared in a press release issued by AIG (Media) Enamul Haque Sagar from the Police Headquarters.
According to the press release, 1,003 of the arrested were wanted in various cases, while 451 others were apprehended in connection with different criminal activities.
During the coordinated operation, police recovered a number of weapons including six Chinese axes, twenty-five daggers, one machete, one Burmese-style knife, two other sharp weapons, and twenty rounds of 2.2 mm ammunition.
Authorities confirmed that legal action is underway against those detained. The ongoing drive aims to curb crime and ensure public safety across the country, police added.
