Police have arrested 72 more people in connection with the acts of vandalism and looting that took place during anti-Israel protests in several cities of the country on Monday.
The arrests were made over the past 24 hours till 8am on Wednesday, said a statement sent from the Bangladesh Police Headquarters.
Of them, 33 were arrested in Khulna, 19 in Sylhet, five in Chattogram, four each in Gazipur, Narayanganj, Cox’s Bazar and three in Cumilla.
With this, a total of 121 people were arrested over the past two days while 10 cases filed.
Further investigations are underway and additional cases are in the process of being filed against those responsible for these reprehensible acts.
Authorities were also reviewing video footage from the protests to help identify more suspects.
The operations would continue until all those responsible for the violence and destruction were arrested, they said.
