Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin today said that the 13th National Parliament elections and referendum schedule will be announced this week.
“The polls schedule will be announced this week,” he told reporters after meeting Chief Justice Dr. Syed Refaat Ahmed this afternoon.
Regarding the meeting, the CEC said, “I have come to pay a courtesy call on the Chief Justice. He will retire this month. We have worked together, which is why I came for a farewell meeting with him.”
Nasir Uddin also said, “They will deploy the Electoral Inquiry Committee. I have requested them to expedite this work as soon as our schedule is announced.”
Replying to another query, the CEC added, “He (the Chief Justice) is taking appropriate measures regarding the deployment of the Electoral Inquiry Committee, and he has assured that there will be no difficulty.”
Earlier, the Chief Election Commissioner visited the Supreme Court at around 1:35 pm to meet the Chief Justice, where he was welcomed by Registrar General Muhammad Habibur Rahman Siddiqui.
