A fatal road accident involving a garment worker led to a major protest and blockade on the Dhaka–Mymensingh highway in Gazipur’s Hurricane area under Gacha this morning.
According to Ashok Kumar Pal, Deputy Commissioner of Gazipur Traffic Police, the incident occurred around 7:45am when a speeding truck struck a female garment worker and fled the scene. The victim died on the spot. Her identity had not been confirmed at the time of reporting.
