Dr. Muhammad Yunus, the Chief Advisor to Bangladesh’s interim government, has extended an invitation to Elon Musk, the CEO of SpaceX and Tesla, to visit the country.
The invitation, which was sent on February 19, encourages Musk to launch the Starlink satellite internet service in Bangladesh within 90 working days.
The invitation follows a productive video call between Dr. Yunus and Musk on February 13, where they discussed future collaborations, including the launch of Starlink in Bangladesh.
Musk, who is also the founder of X, was informed about the potential benefits this service could bring to the country, especially in terms of enhancing connectivity.
In the letter, Dr. Yunus emphasized that Musk would have the chance to meet with young people in Bangladesh, many of whom would be key beneficiaries of this advanced technology.
He wrote, “Let’s work together to implement a shared vision for a better future.”
The letter further pointed out that the introduction of Starlink`s connectivity to Bangladesh could have transformative effects on various groups, particularly the country’s entrepreneurial youth, rural and at-risk women, and disadvantaged populations living in remote areas.
Dr. Yunus has also tasked his high representative, Dr. Khalilur Rahman, with working closely with SpaceX’s team to ensure that the necessary steps are completed for the successful launch of Starlink within the next 90 working days.
This marks an exciting step forward in improving internet access and connectivity in Bangladesh.
