Digital lottery for govt, private secondary school admission inaugurated

Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni today inaugurated the digital lottery programme for admission to government and private secondary schools across the country.

The digital lottery programme was inaugurated at International Mother Language Institute (IMLI) here, an official release said.

Deputy Minister for Education Barrister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury attended the function as the special guest with Director General of Directorate of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Prof Nehal Ahmed in the chair.

Secretary of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Soleyman Khan also was present at the function.

Students can now receive the results via SMS on their mobile phones. To receive results by SMS on Teletalk mobile phones, users should type GSA<Space>Result>Space>User ID and send it to 16222.

The results are also available online. Students and guardians can check the results of the digital lottery on http://gsa.teletalk.com.bd.

The admission process to enroll students in 3,846 government and private secondary schools opened on October 28.

There are 11,22,94 seats and some 8,73,792 applications were found against the seats.

Besides, there are 1,18,101 seats in 658 government schools and some 5,63,013 applications were submitted. As a result, five students are contesting each seat.

Meanwhile, the number of private schools are 3,188 and 10,3993 seats are available in those schools. So far, 3,10,779 students applied for the vacant seats.
