After the blocking of the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway throughout the day at Shanir Akhra in the capital, police clashed with students involved in the quota reform movement on Wednesday the evening.

Fierce clashes were even around 10pm. Local people said that the fire was set in the toll plaza of Hanif flyover in Shanir Akhara Kajla.

Meanwhile, Dhaka Medical Police Outpost Inspector Bachchu Mia said that six people who were injured by police shotgun fire during the clash there in the evening have been brought to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. A two-year-old child is among the injured.

Multiple motorcycles, toll plaza booths on the adjacent Hanif Flyover and a police box have been set on fire and vandalised, with tyres seen burning on the road.

According to locals, police have fired teargas shells, and rubber bullets targeting the protesters.
