196 more dengue patients hospitalised in 24 hours

A total of 196 new dengue patients were admitted to hospitals across the country in the past 24 hours, raising the number of dengue cases this year to 7,306. However, no new deaths from dengue were reported during this period.

The information was revealed in the latest dengue situation report released on Tuesday by the Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

According to the report, among the 196 newly hospitalized patients, the highest number of cases was recorded in Dhaka division, including the two city corporations of Dhaka. In the last 24 hours, 52 patients were admitted in Dhaka division, 66 in Barishal division, 41 in Chattogram division, and 21 in Khulna division. Additionally, 8 new cases were reported in Mymensingh division, 6 in Rajshahi division, and 2 in Sylhet division. No new dengue patients were admitted in Rangpur division during the same period.

DGHS data shows that from January 1 to July 7 this year, a total of 7,306 people have been infected with dengue nationwide. Barishal division recorded the highest number of hospitalized patients, with 1,931 cases, followed by Chattogram division with 1,318 cases. Dhaka division, including the metropolitan area, reported 2,570 cases, while Khulna recorded 905, Rajshahi 258, Mymensingh 224, Sylhet 68, and Rangpur 32 cases.

So far this year, 19 people have died from dengue. Of them, 8 deaths were reported in Dhaka division, 5 in Mymensingh division, 3 in Chattogram division, and 1 each in Barishal, Khulna, and Rajshahi divisions.

Meanwhile, 139 dengue patients were discharged from hospitals across the country after receiving treatment in the past 24 hours. Since the beginning of the year, a total of 6,676 patients have recovered and returned home.

At present, 611 dengue patients are undergoing treatment at government and private hospitals nationwide, including 141 patients in hospitals in Dhaka city.
