3 more die of dengue; 492 new cases reported in 24 hours

In the past 24 hours, three more people have died from dengue fever in Bangladesh, and 492 new dengue cases have been reported, according to a health bulletin issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Monday.

Among the newly hospitalized patients, 154 were reported in Barishal Division (outside the city corporation areas), 69 in Dhaka Division (excluding city corporations), 51 in Chattogram Division (outside city corporations), 54 in Khulna Division (excluding city corporations), 36 in Dhaka North City Corporation, 53 in Dhaka South City Corporation, 10 in Mymensingh Division, three in Rangpur Division, and one in Sylhet Division.

During the same period, 411 dengue patients were discharged from hospitals. Since the beginning of the year, a total of 11,409 patients have recovered and been released from healthcare facilities.

As of July 7 this year, 12,763 people have been infected with dengue across the country. Of these, 52.2% are male and 40.8% female.

With the latest fatalities, the death toll from dengue in 2025 now stands at 48. The three latest victims include two from Barishal Division and one from Khulna Division.

In comparison, between January 1 and December 31, 2024, a total of 101,214 people were diagnosed with dengue, and 575 died due to the mosquito-borne virus.

The previous year, in 2023, dengue claimed 1,705 lives, with 321,179 patients hospitalized nationwide.

Health authorities continue to urge citizens to take preventive measures, including eliminating mosquito breeding sites and seeking early treatment in case of symptoms.
