In the past 24 hours, Bangladesh has recorded 352 new dengue hospitalizations, the highest single-day figure so far this year.

The update was provided by the Health Emergency Operations Center and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Saturday.

During this period, one dengue-related death was reported, bringing the total number of dengue fatalities this year to 31.

Since January, a total of 7,429 patients have been admitted to hospitals across the country due to dengue fever.

According to health officials, 3,084 people have been hospitalized with dengue in June alone. Currently, 882 patients remain admitted to both public and private hospitals nationwide. Among them, 229 are receiving treatment in hospitals within Dhaka, while the remaining 653 are admitted to hospitals in other regions.

Of the newly hospitalized cases in the past 24 hours, the majority were reported from outside city corporation areas. Specifically, Barishal division recorded 167 new cases, Chattogram reported 76, Dhaka (outside city corporations) had 15 cases, Khulna reported 8, and Rajshahi recorded 24 new admissions. Within Dhaka city, 19 new cases were reported in the North City Corporation area and 43 in the South City Corporation area.

The DGHS data shows that since the beginning of the year, 1,161 people were hospitalized with dengue in January, 374 in February, 336 in March, 701 in April, and 1,773 in May. The monthly death tolls include 10 in January, three in February, seven in April, three in May, and eight so far in June.

Health authorities continue to urge the public to remain vigilant and take preventive measures, as the monsoon season typically leads to a rise in dengue cases across the country.
