Bangladesh recorded one new death from dengue and 406 fresh cases in the past 24 hours, according to a press release issued on Wednesday (July 9) by the Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room under the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The update revealed that among the newly hospitalized patients, 98 were from outside Barishal City Corporation, 78 from Chattogram, 64 from areas outside Dhaka City, 53 from Dhaka South City, 36 from Dhaka North City, 35 from Khulna, 31 from Rajshahi, four from Mymensingh, five from Rangpur, and two from Sylhet.
During the same period, 439 patients were discharged after recovery, raising the total number of recovered patients this year to 12,225.
As of July 9, the total number of dengue infections in 2025 has risen to 13,594. Among the infected, 59.2% are male and 40.8% are female.
The latest fatality was a resident of Dhaka South City Corporation, bringing the total dengue death toll for the year to 52.
In comparison, 101,214 people were infected and 575 died from dengue in 2024. The previous year, 2023, saw a record-breaking 321,179 infections and 1,705 deaths — the highest ever recorded in the country.
