One more dies of dengue, 383 hospitalized in 24 hours

A 27-year-old woman has died from dengue fever in the last 24 hours, as hospitals across Bangladesh continue to report a growing number of cases.

Between Saturday morning and Sunday morning, a total of 383 new patients were admitted to hospitals with dengue-related symptoms.

According to the latest update from the Health Emergency Operations Center, the highest number of new admissions—136—were recorded in hospitals in the Barisal region.

Other regional breakdowns include 55 in Chattogram Division (excluding the city corporation), 48 in Dhaka Division, 41 in Khulna Division (excluding city corporation), 33 in Rajshahi Division (excluding city corporation), 32 in Dhaka North City Corporation, 28 in Dhaka South City Corporation, and 10 in Mymensingh Division (excluding city corporation).

With the latest fatality, the total number of dengue-related deaths this year has risen to 42. The month-wise breakdown shows 10 deaths in January, 3 in February, 7 in April, 3 in May, and 19 in June so far.

Public health authorities continue to monitor the situation closely as the monsoon season progresses, heightening the risk of mosquito-borne illnesses like dengue.
