A ballistic missile test from an Indian nuclear submarine in the Bay of Bengal was successful.
INS Arihant successfully launched a submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM) on Friday, according to a statement from the Indian defense ministry released here last night.
"All operational and technological parameters of the weapons system have been validated," the Ministry said.
The test of a ballistic missile launched from a submarine establishes the reliability of India`s navy nuclear deterrence. Local media said that when deployed, Indian ballistic missile submarines may soon be able to hit China and Pakistan from undersea positions.
