A junta court in Myanmar's Sittwe has imprisoned the ousted chief minister of Myanmar's Rakhine state for sedition.
The ousted leader U Nyi Pu was sentenced to two years rigorous imprisonment on Friday, Myanmar media The Irrawaddy reports citing his lawyer U Myo Myat Hein.
The verdict was delivered on Friday via videoconferencing.
“I have yet to meet my client to ask him if wants to appeal against the ruling. If he wants to appeal, I will do so,” said Hein.
He was charged with sedition along with other senior leaders of National League for Democracy (NLD) after the February 1 coup last year.
