The United States military recently launched airstrikes targeting a Houthi military facility in Yemen’s northern Amran province, just outside the capital city, Sana’a.
According to reports from Houthi-run Al-Masirah TV, the attack took place early Friday morning, with five airstrikes hitting a key outpost in the Harf Sufyan district.
While no further information was provided, the rebel group controls much of northern Yemen and often refrains from revealing casualty numbers or damage details.
The news was reported by The Sentinel.
Residents in the area shared on social media that they were woken by loud explosions at dawn, coming from a military outpost where weapons were stored in the hills.
So far, the U.S. Central Command has not made any official statements about the strikes, according to reports from Xinhua news agency.
This military site, along with other Houthi outposts located across northern Yemen and Sana’a, has been a frequent target of U.S. airstrikes since early last year.
The latest round of airstrikes came only hours after Abdul-Malik al-Houthi, the leader of the Houthi movement, made a public statement threatening to launch long-range rocket attacks against Israel.
His speech warned that if Israel continued its military actions in Gaza and violated the ceasefire agreement before it was fully implemented, his group would retaliate.
“If the Israeli enemy continues its genocidal campaign in Gaza before the ceasefire agreement is enacted, we will continue our military operations in support of the Palestinian people,”
said Abdul-Malik al-Houthi in his speech, which was broadcast on Al-Masirah satellite TV.
“We are closely monitoring every stage of the ceasefire agreement, and if Israel breaks the deal or commits massacres, we will be ready to immediately offer military support to the Palestinian people,” he added.
