122kg venison recovered in Barguna

In a major raid related to wildlife, police have seized 122 kg of venison from a trawler in Sadar upazila of Barguna.

Hwoever, no arrests were made in this connection.

Ali Ahmed, officer-in-charge (OC) of Barguna Police Station, said that they acting on a tip-off conducted the drive.

"We're informed that an engine-run boat was coming towards Barguna town via Patharghata after hunting deer from the Sundarbans, a drive was conducted in the Krok area around 12:00 pm" he added.

Sensing the presence of police, the smugglers fled, leaving the venison and the boat behind, OC Ali said.

The seized venison has been handed over to the Barguna Forest Department and a case has been filed against a poacher named Kabir.
