Three people including two who were on their way to take part in the recruitment exam for assistant teachers of primary schools have been killed in separate road crashes in Chandpur and Barguna.
In Chandpur, the accident occurred in a collision between a CNG-run auto rickshaw and a truck in Sadar upazila of Chandpur on Friday, police said.
Two others were injured in the accident, said police.
The deceased were identified as Fatema Alam, 24, and Md Abdullah, 25, of Hajiganj upazila of the district.
The accident occurred around 9:30 am when a Chandpur bound auto rickshaw collided with a speeding sand-laden truck coming from opposite direction on the Chandpur-Cumilla regional road of the upazila, leaving Fatema dead on spot and other occupants of the auto rickshaw injured.
Later, the injured were rushed to Chandpur Govt General Hospital where the doctor declared Abdullah dead on arrival, Md Abdur Rashid, officer-in-charge (OC) of Chandpur Model police station.
Both vehicles were seized. Both the drivers fled the scene immediately, said the OC.
A case will be filed in this regard ,he added.
In Barguna, a 40-year-old man was killed and another three injured as a three-wheeler carrying goods overturned at Pazrabhanga in Sadar upazila.
Deceased, Selim Gharami of Madartali village, was travelling by the three-wheeler.
Ali Ahmed, officer-in-charge (OC) of Barguna Sadar Police Station said that the incident occurred at around 9 pm on Thursday as the speeding three-wheeler hit a speed breaker and lost control. It overturned into a roadside field killing Selim on the spot and injuring three others.
One injured has been sent to Barishal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital in critical condition, he said.
