After a week, another earthquake has been felt in different parts of Bangladesh. On Saturday (27 September) at 2:27 PM, a 3.5 magnitude earthquake on the Richter scale was recorded in Monirampur Upazila, Jashore.
According to the Earthquake Monitoring and Research Center of the Bangladesh Meteorological Department, the epicenter of the quake was in Monirampur. Officer-in-charge Md. Rubaiyat Kabir stated, “This 3.5 magnitude earthquake is considered a low-intensity tremor.”
The Meteorological Department noted that Monirampur is located approximately 157 kilometers southwest of the capital, Dhaka.
This marks the third earthquake experienced in the country this month. On 14 September, a 5.8 magnitude earthquake struck Assam in India, which was felt in parts of Bangladesh. Seven days later, on 21 September, a 4.0 magnitude earthquake occurred in the Chhatak area of Sunamganj in the Sylhet region.
Although such earthquakes are generally low in intensity, they can cause anxiety among local residents.
