A businessman was brutally stabbed to death in Khulna, marking the fourth homicide in the city in just nine days this October. The incident occurred on Thursday around 10:30 a.m. in the Housing Market area of Khalishpur.
The deceased has been identified as Sabuj Khan, 55, a resident of Bokkor Colony in the same area.
Khalishpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mir Atahar Ali stated that Sabuj Khan was at the market in the morning when a few neighbors, reportedly due to a previous dispute, attacked him with sharp weapons. Local people rushed him to the Khulna Medical College Hospital in a critical condition, but the doctors declared him dead upon arrival.
The police officer added that Khan had multiple injuries, including wounds on his right hand, left elbow, both knees, and various parts of his body, caused by sharp weapons. The body has been sent to the Khulna Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy, and a manhunt has been launched to apprehend the attackers.
This incident follows a string of violent killings in Khulna earlier this month:
On 6 October, a young man named Imran Munsi was shot in the head at close range.
On 2 October, Liton Khan was strangled and slashed to death by his son in Basupara Banshtola over a financial dispute.
On 1 October, a young man was shot dead while sleeping at home in Maheshwarpasha Westpara Market in Daulatpur.
Authorities have expressed concern over the rising trend of violent crimes in the city.
