A man was killed in an alleged attack over a financial dispute in Chuadanga’s Sadar upazila on Friday night, police said.
The victim, Alim Uddin, 55, was from Shankarchandra village.
According to police, the incident took place during a local arbitration meeting over unpaid business money.
Officials said the dispute involved more than Tk 14 lakh that had allegedly been borrowed for business purposes but was not repaid despite repeated promises.
The meeting was held in front of the residence of a local union parishad chairman to discuss the issue.
Police said a group of people arrived at the spot during the meeting and allegedly assaulted Alim Uddin, leaving him seriously injured.
He was taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
The incident created tension in the area, prompting police to rush to the scene and bring the situation under control.
Bangladesh Police said one person has been arrested in connection with the killing, while further investigation is underway.
