State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury MP said that, Bangladesh is progressing under Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina`s direction. Many people are frustrated after seeing it. The gasps of BNP have started. Once they go to America, another time they go to different embassies. No matter how much the BNP whines, nothing will change. People of Bangladesh will confirm who will come to power in the future.
He said this today at the inauguration ceremony of the Sheola land port built with the financing of the World Bank and Bangladesh Government in Sylhet`s Beanibazar.
In order to expand import-export activities via land, `Sheola Land Port` has been constructed at Beanibazar in Sylhet district by the Bangladesh Land Port Authority under the Ministry of Shipping.
Commenting that the imperialist countries do not want the development of Bangladesh, Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury said, "Whether there will be a developed Bangladesh in 2041; whether it will stand on the foundation of development in the year 2030, whether the leadership of building a smart Bangladesh will be created in the next generation will be decided in the next election. Imperialist countries do not want the development of Bangladesh."
138 crore has been spent in the first phase of construction of the Sheola land port. Acquisition of 22 acres of land, land development, boundary wall, internal road, open yard, parking yard, transshipment shed, two warehouses, multi-agency service building, dormitory building, port drainage system, restrooms, fire fighting system, two digital weighbridge scales have been constructed.
Through the Sheola land port, the land import-export operations with the seven sister state of India, Assam, will be expanded. In opposite there is the Sutarkandi area of Karimganj in the Indian state of Assam. All kinds of goods can be imported and exported through this port.
