A low-pressure area over the southwestern region of Bangladesh and adjoining areas has intensified into a well-marked low, currently located over Gangetic West Bengal and nearby southwestern parts of Bangladesh.
As a result, heavy rainfall has been occurring in several southwestern districts. The capital, Dhaka, also experienced rainfall throughout Wednesday, with intermittent sunshine followed by further showers.
According to the latest weather forecast issued at 9:00 AM, the low-pressure system is expected to gradually move in a northwesterly direction, with its extended trough reaching the northern Bay of Bengal.
The monsoon trough extends from Bihar through the center of the low-pressure area across southern Bangladesh to Assam.
The monsoon is currently active over Bangladesh and strong over the northern Bay of Bengal.
Widespread rain with temporary gusty winds, lightning, and light to moderate showers are likely across most areas in Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions throughout Wednesday.
Some regions may experience moderately heavy to very heavy rainfall. Daytime temperatures across the country may decrease slightly, while nighttime temperatures are expected to remain nearly unchanged.
The same weather pattern is forecasted to continue on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
Light to moderate rain, accompanied by temporary gusty winds and lightning, is likely in most parts of the country, with possibilities of heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places.
Throughout this period, daytime temperatures may slightly drop, while nighttime temperatures are expected to remain stable. The overall rainfall trend is expected to persist over the next five days.
