Gas supply to Rajshahi division will remain suspended for two days from the night of Eid day for expansion work, reports The Daily Star.
Paschimanchal Gas Company Limited (PGCL) issued a notification in this regard on Saturday night.
In the notice published on its website, the PGCL authorities did not mention any specific date. It just said gas supply for commercial and household purposes would be suspended for 48 hours beginning from 10pm on the Eid day.
In Bangladesh, Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated either on Monday or Tuesday -- subject to moon-sighting.
During the given time, the notice explains, the Gas Transmission Company Limited (GTCL) would complete a hook-up work of its 30-inch diameter pipelines at Elenga-Jamuna (East point of Bangabandhu Bridge).
PGCL secretary Md.Mozahar Ali also confirmed the matter.
According to a senior official, the PGCL would unofficially try to continue gas supply to the households.
"After the suspension, there will be gas in the supply lines which is sufficient for the households in the division," he said, seeking anonymity.
The official said the hook-up work of pipelines has become essential for the expansion of the national highway at the Elenga point.
GTCL would suspend gas supply to PGCL's supply networks for completing the work, he said.
