49 MPs from reserved women’s seats to take oath tonight

The oath-taking ceremony for the newly elected Members of Parliament (MPs) in the reserved women’s seats of the 13th National Parliament will be held at 9:00 PM tonight at the Parliament Building’s oath room (East Block, Level-1). The Parliament Secretariat confirmed the information on Saturday.

Earlier, on April 30, the Election Commission (EC) published the official gazette announcing the names of 49 MPs elected unopposed to the reserved women’s seats in the 13th National Parliament.

According to the gazette, based on party and alliance seat distribution, 36 MPs have been elected from the ruling Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and its allies, 12 from the Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and its alliance, and one from a coalition of six independent MPs.

Among those elected from the BNP alliance are Selima Rahman, Shirin Sultana, Rasheda Begum Hira, Rehana Akhtar Ranu, Newaz Halima Arli, Mosa. Farida Yasmin, Bilkis Islam, Sakila Farzana, Helen Zerin Khan, Nilofar Chowdhury Moni, Nipun Roy Chowdhury, Jiba Amina Khan, Mahmuda Habiba, Mosa. Sabira Sultana, Sansila Zebrin, Sanjida Islam, Sultana Ahmed, Fahmida Haque, Anna Minz, Subarna Sikder, Shamim Ara Begum Swapna, Mosammat Shammi Akhtar, Ferdousi Ahmed, Bithika Binte Hossain, Mosa. Suraiya Zerin, Mansura Akhtar, Joharat Adib Chowdhury, Momtaz Alo, Fahima Nasrin, Arifa Sultana, Mosa. Sanjida Yasmin, Nadia Pathan Papon, Shaukat Ara Akhtar, Madhobi Marma, Selina Sultana, and Rezeka Sultana.

Those elected from the Jamaat alliance include Nuruun Nisa Siddika, Marzia Begum, Sabikun Nahar, Mosa. Nazmun Nahar, Mahfuza Hannan, Sajeda Samad, Shamsunnahar Begum, Mardia Momtaz, Rokeya Begum, Mahmuda Alam Mitu, Tasmiya Pradhan, and Mahbuba Hakim.

In addition, Sultana Jesmin has been elected from the independent coalition.

Meanwhile, the nomination of Nusrat Tabassum Jyoti, a candidate from the Jamaat alliance and leader of the National Citizen Party (NCP), for a reserved women’s seat in the 13th National Parliament was declared valid by the Election Commission on Saturday.
