Obaidul Quader, general secretary of the ruling Awami League, on Sunday urged everyone to resist the "evil force" opposed to the liberation struggle in 1971 and said that the the defeated enemies from 1971 continue to pose problems for its independence.
After paying tribute at the Savar National Monument to commemorate the nation's Independence Day, Quader made the statement while speaking with reporters.
"The country's independence is still under threat from the anti-liberation forces, which have occasionally assumed the identities of militants and communalists. We must overcome this evil," he said.
He stated, "In line with Pakistan, the BNP is speaking. It's because Pakistani ideology serves as the foundation of BNP. They still have Pakistan on their minds and in their hearts."
By laying wreaths at the National Monument in Savar for the 53rd Independence and National Day, President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina showed their homage for the Liberation War heroes.
Subsequently, Awami League President Sheikh Hasina and other senior party members made a formal tribute on behalf of the party.
