Road Transport and Bridges Minister, also Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader has come down heavily on media citing that it doesn’t cover news on violent activists by the BNP men.
He came up with the allegation in a briefing before a joint meeting of the Awami League's presidium, secretariat level leaders, and members of its associate bodies at Bangabandhu Avenue in Dhaka on Monday.
He said: "BNP leaders have claimed that their demonstrations got attacked in Comilla and Dhaka. But who perpetrated violence in Chittagong and Barisal on Sunday?”
“BNP leaders threw chairs and went on rampage during their programmes there. But, except one newspaper, no other media reported on it!" he added.
The minister asked a question: Is there a reason why the media does not cover negative activities conducted by the BNP men?
"I want to leave this question to them,” the senior leader added.
He also urged the Information and Broadcast Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud to look into the matter.
