BNP’s Acting Chairman Tareq Rahman has announced that the party has taken organizational action against more than 7,000 of its members over various allegations. He shared this information on his verified Facebook page on Thursday morning.
In his post, Tareq Rahman stated, “Organizational measures have already been taken against more than 7,000 party members based on different allegations. Some have been removed from their positions, while many others have been expelled from the party due to corruption, extortion, and misconduct.”
He added that taking these decisions amid widespread criticism was not easy, but it was necessary in light of the realities faced by the party. “Discipline is not a weakness; it is our strength,” he emphasized.
Tareq Rahman further explained that by holding its members accountable, BNP demonstrates its commitment to integrity. “The standards we demand from the ruling party are the same standards we apply to ourselves,” he said.
He highlighted the party’s efforts to strengthen its organizational structure from grassroots to central levels, reaching out to all segments of society to reflect the aspirations of the next generation. The party aims to ensure transparency and accountability while rebuilding public trust, especially among young people who view politics as a platform for inclusive participation rather than merely a quest for power.
He also outlined BNP’s modernization initiatives, saying the party is enhancing direct engagement with citizens and has developed policies around a 31-point program covering education, healthcare, youth employment, climate change, and digital innovation. He emphasized the inclusion of more women, young leaders, and professionals in decision-making.
Reflecting on the party’s history, Tareq Rahman said BNP draws inspiration from its founders, Ziaur Rahman and Chairperson Khaleda Zia, and is entering a new era focused on integrity, youth leadership, and global competitiveness.
He concluded by urging party members to remain united, disciplined, and committed to serving the public. “Just as I trust each of you, trust me, and together we can make the path of democracy brighter,” he said.
