General Secretary of Awami League and Minister of Road Transport and Bridges Obaidul Quader said that he will not comment on the former mayor of Gazipur City Corporation Jahangir Alam until a party decision is made.
He said this in response to questions from reporters after an event at a hotel in Dhaka on Wednesday.
At that time, Obaidul Quader also said, "Jahangir Alam used to run Awami League. He was in Awami League. He became mayor from Awami League. But, we don't know that his mother has ever openly made appearance in Awami League. So it is not our business to stop him."
Regarding BNP, Obaidul Quader said, "Participation in elections as a political party is a democratic right of BNP, not an opportunity. Why will Awami League favor them?"
The General Secretary of Awami League said that the foreigners did not say a word about these three demands of BNP: resignation of the government, dissolution of parliament and caretaker government.
In response to the question that Mirza Fakhrul does not trust Awami League on electoral issues, he said, "They do not trust Awami League, but why? The election will be according to the constitution. Elections will be held in the same manner as in other democratic countries of the world."
