Sheikh Hasina‍‍`s government needed again: Obaidul Quader

Sheikh Hasina‍‍`s government is needed again, said Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Saturday

He said this while addressing a peace and development rally organized by the district Awami League at the district school ground in Maijdi of Noakhali.

Presided over by District Awami League President Khairul Anam Selim, the rally was addressed, among others, by Awami League‍‍`s Chattogram divisional organising secretary Whip Abu Sayeed Al Mahmud Swapan.

At the rally, the minister said Tarique Rahman moved to London 16 years ago on a bond that he will not do politics.

“You (Tarique) have laundered crores of taka from this country. Sheikh Hasina government has been able to recover Tk 40 crore from abroad and bring it back to the country, people all over the world know that. Where did all this money come from Tarique Rahman? People under the leadership of Tarique Rahman will agitate to topple the government by smuggling thousands of crores of taka through corruption,” said Quader.

Quader said, “The faces of BNP leaders have dried up and there is no movement anymore. The people of Bangladesh know Tarique Rahman and his leadership Noakhali BNP‍‍`s base is over and they have tried to mislead the people of Noakhali by thinking they are fools. The people of Noakhali are with Bangabandhu‍‍`s base.”

Quader said there is a lack of honest, efficient and courageous leaders and workers in politics. “We need good people in politics. Sheikh Hasina is not sleeping due to the rise in the prices of essential commodities in the country, she is trying her best to alleviate the sufferings of the poor people.”

Local parliamentarians, district and upazila Awami League leaders also spoke at the rally. District Awami League General Secretary Shahid Ullah Khan Sohel moderated the rally.
