Senior Joint Secretary General of the BNP, Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, strongly condemned the recent vandalism of a shrine and the burning of a corpse, suggesting that the incident might be part of an international conspiracy.
He said, “I have a feeling that a deep conspiracy is unfolding within the country. Such heinous acts—desecrating a shrine and burning a body—could well be part of an international plot. It is the responsibility of the interim government to investigate whether such a conspiracy is underway.”
Rizvi made these remarks on Saturday at the BNP central office in Naya Paltan, Dhaka, while addressing a prayer and milad ceremony organized on the occasion of Eid-e-Miladunnabi.
He further stated, “Even during our time, we witnessed the Pakistan era to some extent. Back then, we never heard of shrines being attacked or old corpses being burned. If progress was expected since then, why are such incidents happening suddenly now? This is something Sheikh Hasina’s administration is doing.”
Rizvi also criticized allegations against the BNP, saying, “Whenever BNP was in power, propaganda accused us of being Pakistan-friendly or supporting Islamist militants. But despite these claims, they have never been able to prove anything.”
Pointing fingers at the former Prime Minister, Rizvi alleged, “She promised to run the country according to the Medina Charter, but what did we see? One minister owns 140 houses in London, 60 katha of land in Purbachal in the name of her children, and plans to construct 30 bungalows on 72 bighas of government land near Chattogram airport. Meanwhile, poor people die without medical care. During the COVID-19 pandemic, many lives were lost due to lack of oxygen.”
Rizvi added, “Our leader stayed in the country and endured five to six years of imprisonment in false cases. We are not a foreign-oriented party; we are a Bangladesh-oriented party—the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).”
The milad and prayer event was also attended by BNP Joint Secretary General Khairul Kabir Khokon, Abdus Salam Azad, Volunteer Affairs Secretary Mir Sharafat Ali Sapu, Co-Propaganda Secretary Asadul Karim Shahin, and Executive Committee member Abdus Sattar Patwari, among others.
