Popular actor Ahmed Rubel passed away. He was 55 years old.
Producer Nurul Alam Atique confirmed the news of the actor`s death to the media on Wednesday (February 7) evening.
He said that in the evening there was a special screening of Nurul Alam Atique`s new movie `Peyarar Subash`. Ahmed Rubel, who played an important role in the movie, was coming to join this exhibition.
But till now the cause of death of Ahmed Rubel is not known.
Ahmed Rubel`s acting career started from `Dhaka Theatre` by Salim Al Deen. Gias Uddin Selim`s `Swapnajatra` was Ahmed Rubel`s first drama. After that, he acted in Humayun Ahmed`s Eid drama `Poka`, where his role of `Ghora Majid` became widely popular.
His big break came with the television series "Pret," directed by Ahir Alam and based on Muhammad Zafar Iqbal`s novel. Rubel has continued his television career, working with directors like as Mostofa Sarwar Farooqi and appearing in Humayun Ahmed`s "Shyamol Chhaya".
Since 2005, he regularly acted in television dramas. He also worked on stage for a long time as a member of Dhaka theater. His notable plays include `Otithi`, `Neel Toale`, `Bishesh Ghoshona`, `Protidan`, `Nobab Gunda`, `FNF` etc.
On December 31, 2021, the full-length film `Chironjeeb Mujib`, based on Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman`s `Unfinished Autobiography`, was released. Ahmed Rubel played the role of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in this film.
Ahmed Rubel also played the lead in Indian director Sanjay Nag`s 2014 film `Parapar`.
