Rajshahi University Film Society (RUFS), a noted member of the Federation of Film Societies of Bangladesh, is set to complete 10 years on December 4, 2021, according to a recent press statement. The organisation will host a webinar in this occasion on Internationally acclaimed Indian filmmaker Satyajit Ray titled “Bishsho Dorbare Bangla Cholochitro: Satyajit’er Shuru, Shesh Kothay” on July 29.
Dr Sajjad Bakul, founder-president of Rajshahi University Film Society and Associate Professor of Department of Mass Communication and Journalism at Rajshahi University confirmed that the webinar will be open for all.
The reputed organisation started its journey on the Rajshahi University campus since 2011.
In the last 10 years of operation, RUFS organised various exhibitions inside the campus of Rajshahi University, including film exhibitions, various training workshops on film, film festivals, birth and death anniversaries of famous film personalities including film seminars and film making training sessions.
The organization has continued the trend of film society practice on the RU campus mainly through the active participation of the students.
To commemorate their 10th anniversary, RUFS will organize a six-month-long program from July to December.
As the Rajshahi University campus is currently completely closed due to the Corona epidemic, it is not possible to organise anything directly on campus at present.
RUFS has decided to host at least one online film discussion or webinar every six months starting from now.
As part of this decision, the first webinar will be held on (Thursday) July 29, 2021, at 8 pm.
Two well-known film researchers-critics-writers of the country will take part in it. They are Dr Nadir Zunaid and Mahmudul Hossain.
The program will be telecast live on their official Facebook page called ‘Rajshahi University Film Society.’
