Bangladeshi-Swedish writer and social activist Taslima Nasrin has recently condemned the critics of Popular West Bengai actor turned TMC (Trinamool Congress) MP Nusrat Jahan and her first child. The writer took to her verified Facebook profile on Friday (August 27) and wrote a post explaining her thoughts about the recent media debacle behind the recent chain of events.
Pointing out of wedlock pregnancy of actor-MP Nusrat, the exiled writer wrote: “This is not a big problem in our upper class and rich society. A relationship between Hindus and Muslims in the upper class and rich society is also not a big problem.
“The middle-class society has a problem with these. This problem is also present in the lower class society.
“This is not a problem among the extremely poor. Dwellers and homeless people enjoy roughly the same freedom as the rich or have little care over these issues.
“Many of the middle-class people who are welcoming celebrity newborns like these today may not welcome a newborn like this of their close relatives, or such newborn in their own neighbourhood, or the girl if the man is a Muslim and also the girl if her partner is a Hindu.
“Superstition, toxic masculinity and communalism have not disappeared from our society,” she also wrote.
She even explained how the “life of a celebrity works as a mirror of society” and shows us our own dark reflection.
Speculative Indian media reports claim that this is the child of another popular Indian actor Yash Dasgupta, who took the then mom-to-be to the hospital on August 25 evening.
Yash also posted a health update on his social media about the mom and son duo and wrote that they are "healthy and doing well."
While Nusrat did not confirm her pregnancy news on social media, she was often seen embracing her baby bump in several pictures.
This started a media circus and moral splicing trial on Indian social media feeds since then.
She has been embroiled in controversy for her troubled marriage life with ex-husband Nikhil Jain. The couple who tied the knot in 2019, parted ways earlier this year.
Nikhil who is a businessman by profession, also reacted to the happy news of Nusrat becoming a mother.
Talking to a leading news channel, Nikhil extended his good wishes to the mom-son duo.
Nusrat was admitted to Neotia Hospital in Kolkata and gave birth to her baby boy on August 25 evening.
