Bangladesh and India on Thursday jointly released the trailer of the co-production film Mujib – the Making of a Nation on the sidelines of the Cannes Film Festival in France.
The film, co-produced by Bangladesh and India, depicts the life of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the architect of Bangladesh. The film, extensively shot in Bangladesh and India, is directed by Shyam Benegal.
The trailer, released by Information and Broadcasting Minister Hasan Mahmud and his Indian counterpart Anurag Thakur, showcases the glimpses of Bangabandhu, who was a man of indomitable energy and a great admiral.
The actors in the lead roles Arifin Shuvoo and Nusrat Imrose Tisha, for the love of the nation essay the roles of Bangabandhu and Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa (Renu). The film showcases Fazilatunnesa’s struggles, strength & her role in Sheikh Mujib’s success.
In his speech, Hasan Mahmud said, the life of Bangabandhu, victory from his struggle and his sacrifice have been portrayed in the movie. The biopic, jointly produced by Bangladesh and India, will keep awake the spirit of Bangabandhu for decades though it is tough to portray the biographies of great people like Bangabandhu, Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Luther King and Nelson Mandela in a film.
“We have witnessed an epic trailer, of a historic leader (Sheikh Mujib), it was with the energizing efforts of all the cast & crew from Bangladesh and India, including the governments of both nations that despite the pandemic this film was possible,” said Anurag Thakur.
