Florentino Pérez, president of Spanish giant Real Madrid has tested positive for COVID-19. The club’s official statement has confirmed that Pérez has tested positive but shows no symptoms.
This marks a difficult time for Real Madrid since coach Zinedine Zidane had also tested positive for COVID-19 and missed Real’s last two match. However, earlier reports confirm that he’s tested negative and re-joined the team’s training session and will be able to attend their next match against Huesca on Saturday.
Defender Nacho Fernandez is also out of the squad with a positive COVID-19 test. Valverde and Rodrygo are still out with injuries. As it stands, Real Madrid are having a pretty rough time overall.
Florentino Pérez is one of the most celebrated presidents in Real Madrid’s history and he’s well known for his Galácticos policy that he undertook in his first term as Real Madrid President. However, it must be noted that Real Madrid has now gone three transfer windows without making any new signing. The club’s financials are tight having been affected by the COVID pandemic as well as their attention towards rebuilding their iconic stadium Santiago Bernabéu.
